Paint colour matching

Connor may even post a photo of the re-painted loco body shell in the fullness of time. I saw it with grey undercoat last week.

The first coat of yellow went on the ends of the first diesel body and brake van today, I will indeed be posting updates covering the process over the next few days. Tomorrow will be the second coat of yellow and hopefully the first of green.

Just an update on progress of the models for Charde Rail:

The Hymek started off as a plain BR green model, Sol had added the Running number to be easier to see for operators, however, this will not be replicated with Charde Rail numbers with actual decals being used.

The yellow ends have now been completed with 2 coats of Tamiya X-8 Lemon Yellow, it looks relatively close to BR warning yellow. It will be masked to create a similar look to a Hymek in BR Blue with full yellow ends.

A Brake van is being done in a similar manner. Green is next, however, the temperatures in South Aus are approaching the mid to high 30s over the next few days, so may have to wait until next week.

That's coming along very well Connor.  :thumbs
You have similar temperatures to here in France - the problem is, ours are fahrenheit !

We got down to minus 4C last night so my modelling has also been slightly restricted - or at least moved inside from my unit which, whilst heated, takes some time (and cost) to get up to a comfortable temperature……….!

First coat of green on, will do another yet, still some yellow showing through but I am happy with this. After this, roof will be done in a grey and a dark blue stripe will be applied along the bottom.

My new DMU arrived  and while Connor was cleaning off the old name, I got a new decoder TCS DP2 UK and it
 fits like a glove BUT

it doesn't like code 79 - loco moves once when accepting but remains as 3  but put in 795 & it moves twice & all is good
I even tried multiple resets   …

just means I will have to use 2 decals/transfers to get the number ( the black decals/transfers I now have are 79, 55 & 11 )

55 is being used on another DMU & 11 for the loco above loco- I have a few spare of all.

I know I had decoder before that didn't like a couple of addresses - the mysteries of DCC

Nice livery Sol - simple but very effective.  Are you a "weathering" man or not ?

I wonder why you couldn't get the decoder to accept 79 as an address - that's very odd.  Are all your decoders TCS ?

Yeah, it came up rather nicely, I missed a bit of masking on the diesel and it might benefit from some future weathering but should do for now as will the DMU. Loco 59 will be improved other the learning process of Loco 11 so will look better. Also it is a Class 27 so should be slightly easier with the angles.

Weathering - not so much on DMU's as they should be cleaned regularly by yard crew.

I forget what the other decoder was that  didn't like a specific  address as I have a mix of TCS, NCE & Bachmann
( which have different parentage)

Some photos of the newly repainted/rebranded locos at Charde last night at an operating session. I am pleased to say that as I was based at Charde, they both ran very well.

Well done Conner, they do look very fine indeed, including the brake van and particularly the DMU and are splendid ambassadors for your railway Ron.

Oh and someone appears to have dropped their walking stick on the platform, so better pop it into Lost Property before it gets stuck in the gubbings somewhere!

Best,

Bill

Last edit: by Longchap

At 6'4'', Bill is a tall chap, then again, when horizontal he is rather long and people often used to trip over him! . . . and so a nickname was born :)

Yes indeed - I like those, particularly the DMU.  The diesel looks a tad paler  so, IMHO,  not as appealing but maybe it's the way it reflects the light…………

thanks Bill, a Peco track pin - dunno how it got there …

and yes Peter, the diesel yellow is bit paler - Connor is aware of it & the next one will be more yellow.

Happened in real life from my working life PMG grey that covered old telephone equipment racks,  varied depending on which State of Australia they got painted in.

(PMG = Postmaster General - responsible before 2974 for all Postal & Telecommunications in Aust)
