I haven't altered anything at this end but no longer receive these notifications.
Anyone got any bright ideas please ?

If you go to account - preferences Peter, there should be a tick in the box against the below.

I have an, admittedly, old, laptop which lives in my train room. Suddenly, for no apparent reason, it won't let me type more than 4 letters on a Google search. Not always the same letter, but only 4 - and I can't use the space bar.
I even tried typing my name and, whilst it accepted Peter, ( I know - that's 5 letters !) I couldn't space for my surname ……
Searching for YMR, had it not been on my favourites bar (on Firefox), would have been a no-no.
Is it possible that I could be limited to only "x" number of keystrokes somehow or is the laptop now only fit for the dustbin ?
If so, then I need to try and get loads of train stuff off there onto something else - that laptop is "railway dedicated" and has masses of long forgotten railway modelling stuff on there ……
That still doesn't address the lack of e-mail notifications about posts. Maybe France is preparing for a hard Brexit !

that sounds like a very unwell laptop, barely propped up on its perch. So many areas where things can suddenly die in the PC world that first priority should be getting a secure backup - essential.
If its very old stuff it won't be very big in file size terms, I suggest first step is to grab a decent sized USB stick or two and pull all your old railway stuff onto it pronto. I think you might be surprised by the quality of smaller laptop you can get for a very modest price from your local Leclerc etc. if you shop around (stick to the big names though as there's some very dodgy stuff around)

The instruction to "grease all nipples regularly" applies to machinery. But not to computers, it seems. These computer thingies are even more difficult to fathom than females are
