Totally agree Ed,
The old wagons shape up pretty good with a make over. It`s very satisfying too because you`re creating something with an original finish to it.

Screws turned up and that'll do for me.



Just got to do the other end, paint the axle boxes etc. and the start on the next one.

Quite pleased as I did thing these old wagons would get left in a siding somewhere as a static display.

Tell you what Ed,
Not bad mate.!!!……it makes quite a difference……when those axle boxes are painted your well on the way. In the end you won`t be able to pick it from a new wagon. The couplings and the wheels make such a difference.

I bet you would find the Limas a lot easier to do………and yes the Limas do look awful next to your conversion.

I've got to cut the axles on the next one to get the old wheels off, so that can wait until Father Christmas (hopefully) brings me a rotary tool,

G`day Ed,
You won`t know yourself with a rotary tool….they`re great. I would make one suggestion though……..if you haven`t got them already….get some safety glasses. The cutting disks are brittle and will break with the slightest knock, but also sometimes they shatter whilst in operation and chuck little bits of cutting disk all over the shop, which includes bits thrown at you. You must protect your eyes because the broken bits fly off like little bullets…….so take care old mate.!!
