Now that's something I don't have an answer for John.That's the beauty of our hobby,there's no pressure.

Knowing the late Cyril Freezer well and the ideas behind his layout plans books, he would have designed that terminus station with the model maker in mind and  the practicality of the design where it could be made to work and not just looked at in a case where it didn't have to !
Nobody gets it right all the time but when CF didn't, there was always a good reason behind it. Stick with the plan. I certainly would because I know it would work. He once told me if, like the real railways, we had a baseboard the size of England we wouldn't need to compromise, just bigger plan books !

The main circuits are from the Freezer plan slightly modified but the terminus is based on Peter Denny's "Buckingham"I really just want to play trains but the terminus will give me a chance for some real operations as well.That's my excuse anyway

Its been a while but I haven't been idle.
On my terminus there 34 Tortoise motors to be fitted :thud

Here is one prepared.

I'm not really into gardening but I decided I would plant something.
Here is the result " A Green Forest"




I have six or seven more to install & test.
Then its on to the main & accessory buses.

Nothing much happening on the layout for the past few weeks due to injury.
I damaged a knee cartilage while out walking so I couldn't work under the layout.
After treatment its much better now.
The injury gave me the chance to do some other work like servicing a few locos etc.

I spent a few hours on the terminus today where I fitted the remainder of the Tortoise point motors as well as fixing a couple of track problems which had developed on the rest of the layout.

Next up on the terminus is wiring the main bus & connecting up the track droppers. I also need to fit a DCC accessory bus as well as other low voltage lighting buses etc.

That is a Tortoise sanctuary. Must have taken some work to het those all prepped and installed.

Me, I think I'll go with mechanical remote control when I get round to doing a proper layout. Or manufacturer-supplied solenoids  when turnouts happen to come with them.

Not that difficult at all if you get a system going.
I have used mechanical methods for a few turnouts around the layout but I couldn't imagine myself using mechanical methods for the 34 turnouts on my terminus

Tony, I've seen some complicated layout wiring in my time but yours takes the Oscar !

Hi Allan.

I know it might look complicated but its really not.
All those wires hanging down are just dropper wires from the tracks which haven't yet been connected to the main DCC bus wires .
I use colour coding in my wiring so I always know whats in a wire & where its going. If I didn't use wires of different colours then it would be very complicated as it would take forever to work out where each wire was supposed to go.

I seem to have sorted out the notification problem now.
I was to busy watching the Euro's to have much time for the layout but will get back to normal shortly, hopefully :)
Now I have to sort out my accounts for the nice tax person :twisted:

Hi Tony,

Good on you slogging away at getting the droppers sorted. I must admit that it gets a bit tedious connecting up all the under board electrics after a while.

I do get a buzz however (no I haven't put my tongue on the rails) when it's all done and everything comes together and works.

Got a few hours in today.
DCC Accessory bus had now been put in.
Next job is to put in a 12 volt Dc bus for lights etc.
After that its connect up the droppers time :roll:
