I also went the Pendon museum (but not allowed to post photo's) what an eye opener!! The model buildings were fantastic and I urge anybody interested in that side of modelling to visit here as it's a must!!

Thanks for those pics, Ron, tell me why you can't show the Pendon pics?

They 'inform' that you may only take photo's for personal use! Copyright I suppose but the photo's on the website are better than mine!

Hi Ron,

Great photo's. I like the one of the coal drop. Don't suppose you have any more of that ??? It would come in very handy for the R & GLR.

cheers

I would think that such a statement is intended to prevent use for commercial gain. I would be very surprised if it prevents anyone for posting their photos on a closed forum (or an open one for that matter). Pendon needs every form of positive publicity and personal recommendation backed up by images is perhaps the best way of increasing awareness and helping to increase visitor numbers.

Ron,i'm wondering if you contacted them to ask permission to post on a forum perhaps mentioning that it would be educational and even free advertising for them which may lead to more people visiting Didcot.Worth a try.

Ron , Don't bother ringing as most of the staff are on holiday ,so its mostly just voluntary workers there at the moment . The best option is to use the email address on thier site put your request as suggested and mark it for the attention of Sandra Cox…..she will direct it to the relevant person to deal with.

Don't ask me how I know    ;-)

It's also worth mentioning that it's a non commercial site, and photos posted are with the owners permission and for use  by members and not for commercial gain, and that members post up a few photos and a short write up to encourage other members from around the world to visit places they have been to. Also maybe put in the web address so she can take a look herself to see what we're about

Cheers

Thanks for posting the additional shots of the coal drop Ron. Very useful for my layout. I have a Town street Coal drop which is exactly the same so these are great for reference as it shows the surrounding area as well.

Super pictures. I was struck by the catch point on the approach to the coal drop. An obvious requirement really, but rarely included on model railways.

Managed to sneak away to Didcot for a few hours when down south a few days ago and with kind permission from Ron I'll post some pictures here to keep them under the Didcot heading. Just shout if you get image overload as there are a few, and apologies in advance for the amateur quality from this newbie

cheers

    Matt

First batch, some more of the coal drop for Tom

got some pictures of the turntable, the traverser , various cranes, Locos, some permanent way, and other wagons, shout if anything is of particular interest otherwise ill post up some more as I upload them
