N Gauge Heritage Railway
A totally new venture for me to explore working with N gauge, so a lot of thinking and planning to do!!!!! No rush!My wife Sue thinks that the Summer House would't work for this and as the door has swelled up with all the winter rain, I can't get in it anyway! In the the Yard Workshop we both share with our grandson, Josh, there is a long Workbench so she has suggested that I have half this to put my N Gauge on. All the Model making tools are out there and a heater!!!!The bench area for the diorama base which will be movable is 6ft by 2 feet.
To commit to the Vision, I have bought a secondhand N Gauge Scale Brighton Pullman Locomotive Passenger Train and a starter pack of Peco tracks so that I can physically see what I am working with.
and an N Gauge PECO ST-300 Starter Track Set 1st Radius - Setrack Code 80. When they come, having cleared the Workbench of my propagators and plants I can with Sue and Josh go up to the Loft Layout (my balance after Chemo can be questionable) to see what wood and board we have already in stock, also electricals like controllers etc That will be an adventure in itself and over a couple of weeks I suspect as I expect to go into hospital for a couple of ops, one to remove a Pic Line and one to remove and replace the Stent in my Asophagus!) I will also work on some designs! Should be great fun! hey ho
It's a start! :doublethumb

The Bench where the Model will be in situ. The base board will go on this. Sue and I will go up hopefully to the loft tomorrow to see what resources are stacked under and by the New Dawn Base. Ooooooh, this is exciting!!!!! I love a new adventure! A total blank canvas for a new Creative project with so many possibilities! :doublethumb

There seems to be some water ingress under the door frame, hopefully not a big fix.
Best,
Bill

At 6'4'', Bill is a tall chap, then again, when horizontal he is rather long and people often used to trip over him! . . . and so a nickname was born :)

Was I excited! :Happy This gives Josh and I a picture of what we are exploring and the enclosed book with plans and advice is excellent! Josh thought it was to quote, "Cool!" this means we can now look at some planning together! I have asked Josh to help with the baseboard and the wiring when we get started! His woodworking skills and wiring skills are much better than the old man! It's now some years when as a little boy he was with me and the person who persuaded me to explore New Dawn 1! He is now 19 yrs old! hmmmmmmmmmmmm hey ho! Lets see what tomorrow brings! :cheers

0-6-0 tanks are usually fine and the Brighton Belle should be OK with it's bogies. Just don't expect a Merchant or Evening Star to make it around without derailing.

Josh worked on this track design yesterday and others but we are going for this one hopefully. Need to buy some more track. The width of the layout will definitely be 2 ft, length not totally decided, possible 7 ft ish. Buying wood for the base is delayed as I'm having my Pic Line removed in hospital on Friday and then my new stent will be put in my Asophagus in an operation in about two weeks so everything base wise on hold til after then. Josh and I will make the base together. :cheers Great for grandad and grandson to pool ideas !

A Hospital bed for five days and then an Asphagal stent fitted is an excellent place for thinking , so another revision. Nothing will start yet as I am home but somewhat crashed! However, this looks more possible!?
