I have been interested in model railways since I was a child with my first train set being an early three rail dublo, at fifteen my Father bought me a brand new Triang Hornby Blue Pullman trainset for Christmas..bit old for this I thought tearing myself away from the December issue of "guns and ammo"…BUT all through the Christmas and New Year holiday we were inseperable from that lovely boxed present.
Now at sixty..cough, cough erm something I am entering my second childhood and want to start modelling buildings from scratch so I expect loads of constructive criticism.
So between now and the Autumn when the Motorcycle gets mothballed for the winter I am going on a collecting spree for building materials.
Happy Days.

You will find this a friendly and informative forum.
I tried scratch building once and even made my own bricks in a mould with polyfiller. Seemed to work but that was many moons ago.
Good luck with your endeavours.

Enjoy your new railway and your scratch building adventures. Let us know what methods you intend to pursue, as there's many choices and many modellers here to exchange ideas with.
Welcome and speak soon,
Bill
At 6'4'', Bill is a tall chap, then again, when horizontal he is rather long and people often used to trip over him! . . . and so a nickname was born :)

Welcome to the Old Folks Home Duncan. :cheers :cheers
You'll get lots of "constructive criticism" on scratch building models on here - we've got some really stunning (and famous) modellers as members.
I had a dabble with Linka some years ago but decided it required more skills than I had - I may yet resurect it when I have more time (and patience).
What's the motorcycle ?

Lovely to see another youngster joining us. Us under 65's should form a junior section.
Will you be casting a modeling eye over the old M&SWJR station at Marlborough?
