Steam Day
I have not been to the NVR, which is just outside Peterborough, for a couple of years; so it was nice to visit ans see what had changed since last time. As a bonus it was also a steam running day. Here are a couple of pictures. First up is LNWR Coal Tank No 1054, which was pulling a pair of maroon MK 1s:In the bay platform was a fine looking BR Standard 5:
And, as it has just been released by Hornby a Sentinel diesel shunter:

Very happy memories - Thanks for posting Novice. I spent a very enjoyable day with the NVR on a 'Driving Experience' day out several years ago which was a wonderful exerience firing and driving this elderly lady - nice to drive and very responsive so it's good to see the NVR are taking great care of her. Wonder why they took the name plates off???
That's me - the old git in the 'hi-viz'. I was like a kid in a sweet shop, happy as Larry, instructor doesn't look to happy about me being there tho' - I put it down to him having a headache having just explained the intricacies of Walschaert valve gear to me.
