The best layout in Australia is Geoff Nott s Leigh Creek. Geoff is one of Australia s most talented modellers and has spent over two decades carefully crafting this amazing layout. Leigh Creek is set in the late 40 s early 50 s steam to diesel transition era. The theme is logging and mining in the Great North West of the United States. Several trains run on the layout. There are two Shaes working in and around the mine and hauling logs. There s an Alco Diesel and a Climax. The scenery is quite spectacular and true to the region with several bridges, waterfalls and gorges. There is a town and a mine both scratch built, mountain and forest areas

Geoff Nott, passed away on Thursday, 13 June 2013, in Sydney. Geoff will be remembered for his skilled creative work on a
number of classic model railroads, Geoff was always ready to lend a hand & provide tips to anyone who asked, & certainly made the art of miniature creation something to behold.

Jeff, unless you own those photos or have permission by Geoff's estate, they are copyright and thus should not be posted in this or any forum. A www link to them is OK though.

I too have met Geoff at various exhibitions. He was always upfront, helpful and would answer any question put to him. He will be missed on the exhibition scene.

For more photos of Smugglers Cove, see here : http://yourmodelrailway.net/view_topic.php?id=10084&forum_id=65

Scroll down through the pics as I kept the best layout to last !

Cheers, Gary.

Sol, You are quite correct and at my age I should have thought twice cut once. I am very sorry mate. Won't happen again. Regards Jeff.
