BR southern region in EM - one of my all time favourites!

This is a layout that has inspired me greatly and still does - from the moment I first saw it in the MRJ quite a few years back. I really like its simplicity and the convincing London suburban look. The muted colours; the run down track; the EMU's; the whole shooting match in fact! It was sold on Ebay a few years ago to some lucky punter…

Hello Brian!

I wish I could see it one day; the fact that I probably won't is one of the reasons I'm building my own BR southern region layout with third rail (St. Mary Hoo). Elm Park has definitely influenced my current project in many ways.

It was at Glasgow in February too.

As you say, an excellent layout.

Agree an excellent layout. It was at the Bentley Groups, Calne show earlier this year.

A bit of video of it for those interested

Thanks for your replies Bod and Nick; the video link, Nick, is excellent! The other three layouts on the video are spot on as well…

A superb creation and very evocative.  I can almost smell that "Southern Electric" aroma from here!

I'd say someone was inspired by Addiscombe to which Elm Park bears a striking resemblance in essence if not in full detail.

I couldn't agree more Gwiwer! I must have a look at Addiscombe; I have been trying to find a real BR southern location like Elm Park.

Cheers

Elm Park I'm lead to believe is now owned by a Bentley Model Railway Group member and has been noted gets out and about quite a bit. I remember being quite impressed with the article in MRJ 9 or 10 years ago.
