Hi Graham and welcome to the forum.

I know Winchester well, having lived nearby for 30 years and worked there for a spell with my office desk overlooking the Cathedral green.

I like the look of your asphalt roadway and platform surfaces and look forward to learning more of your railway, which I reckon is based in the south in BR times?

Look around, settle in and speak soon.

  Best,

  Bill

At 6'4'', Bill is a tall chap, then again, when horizontal he is rather long and people often used to trip over him! . . . and so a nickname was born :)

Thanks for the warm welcome, I am very good at asking silly questions!!I am modelling BR era Southern Region/S&D in oo gauge. My layout, Beckleigh, is a fictitious terminus in northwest Hampshire with connections to S&D.

Welcome aboard Graham.

Please be assured we don't bite but we do enjoy a taste of what each other is up to.  Whether that be recreating Miniatur Wunderland or raising glasses of the Falling-Down Waters!

We are always happy to answer questions and offer friendship and support.

:hi :Welcome :cheers

Hello Graham. Welcome to the club.  Your layout Beckleigh sounds interesting.  And Southern Region to boot!  You might check out my Southern layout Farleigh.  The story starts here …

It started life as the Midland Region but switched allegiance with the arrival of the new Hornby Terrier!

Welcome Graham, delighted to have another SR man on board.  Thankfully, there are members with all levels of skills and experience, so always help at hand, and those dumb questions are the ones the rest of were wanting to ask….
Looking forward to following your progress.

Welcome Graham,

Oh no, now we have another "long" chap, what is the world coming to?

I can echo the various earlier greetings regarding friendly advice and support here. Only pity is you don't model GWR!

Regards,

Colin

A very warm welcome Graham - looking forward to seeing Beckleigh "in the flesh" - a pity it's Southern but we do have a few other misguided souls on here - most likely keen on supporting the under-dog - you just ask Michael (Headmaster)………. :mutley :mutley

I think many of us had a long break from the hobby and were equally stunned to see how far things had come during our absence.  Even during our current tenure, it's almost impossible to keep up with standards and even more so, technology.

Have a look around, ask if you're not sure and above all, enjoy yourself on here.   :thumbs

Thanks again. Looking at all your fantastic achievements I don't thinks I will be anywhere near your standards.I will start a new thread later with details of my plans for Beckleigh.
Cheers.

Another warm welcome to the forum. And I'll have you know that I have the monopoly on daft questions, so don't try competing or I'll drag you down to my level and beat you.  ;-)

Cheers Pete.
