May be worth a look for background trees.

G`day Folks,
My daughter has advised me that Aldi Australia will have some model trees up for sale next week Wed. 3/12/14. They are your basic Christmas scene and are meant to accompany a little village and people etc. The pack is $4.99 for 13 assorted trees. They may be good for background planting etc. and they should take some modification if necessary without too much trouble.

Could be worth checking them out !!!

PS… I have no idea what size or scale they are???

Thanks for the heads up Brian and it will do my On30 Xmas loop on the floor … I wonder if Aldi are planning to get the Train sets back to kick start the hobby a bit more?  I would like train sets to be like noses where everyone has one!
Cheers

Hi Brian,
They were Bachmann's McKinley Explorer, a Santa Fe or Alaska Freight set with the GP40 like the Explorer set or an 0-6-0 set with a few freight cars all either $99 or $100 as well as a track extension pack for about $60 about 7 or 8 years ago now I would think. There was a bit of bleating from the Hobby shops (understandably) re what they could buy them for but I know a couple of people who got started with the sets and then become hobby shop patrons… part of the bigger picture… and there must have been others outside of my circle.
Thanks for the heads up again
