On the West Coast we generally get a snowfall or two but rarely anything as severe as the last few days.
The shot below is of our front garden yesterday
Another 18" fell last night with more to come!
Commonplace in the rest of Canada but not supposed to happen in Lotusland. If nothing else keeping the drive clear is getting rid of any Christmas flab.
Cheers

Guaranteed there would be no trains and the roads would be closed too - well down here in the South anyway!

Very picturesque, John….. although that amount of snow must bring its problems. If it was England the shops would have sold out of bread, milk and all canned produce, such would be the panic. (I've never really understood the rush to buy bread - they must really like their toast….or sandwiches)

Well there is an element of mild panic…….salt and snow shovels are in short supply and the roads are pretty chaotic.
Snow to this extent is unusual in Vancouver so we dont take it in our stride like people in the interior or back East

As long as you are wrapped up warm a walk through the snow is great!

It really does look very picturesque but I think it's always better to stay behind double glazing with the heating on full bore in such conditions !!!
Here, we don't even have snow ploughs ………………….
Sorry for any typos - we've just changed our computer today and this one has a French "AZERTY" keyboard which is taking some getting used to ……………….. I may yet swap it for a UK "QUERTY" one although, when trying to type in French, QUERTY causes q few problems ………………..

I always thought those who live North of the equator were a bit different - our Ozzie keyboards are "QWERTY"
a lot of snow would be lovely in our Outback & fire areas now….

It is, of course, habit but I did have to check to see if the W and U were switched on the 2 keyboards but they're not. Habit because a U almost always follows a Q - even in French.
Sorry for the hijack John ………………………….

That is a lot of snow for the coast. Snowed here last night - all of around 2mm. -2°C as well, yesterday it was around 18°C.
Peter, just swapping the keyboard will probably not work. Keyboards are dumb, I think you will need to change the key ascii allocation in the firmware Check the language selection, you can easily switch between the two (English/French). I used to have stick on letters for this when writing something long in French. Saved swapping the key board. Using accents on a QWERTY board is easy - [alt] [numeric pad number]. Keyboard numbers do not work.
The Kindle which I am using now has several French options along with an automatic keyboard and accents. Génial!

What I do find interesting is he keyboard layout on an AZERTY one - the "A" is in the wrong place as are the "W" and "M" plus many of the punctuation marks - to say nothing of all the numbers requiring the shift key.
Whilst one could do most, but not all, of the accents on a QWERTY, remembering how was another thing altogether. :???:
You could easily use that first photo as a Christmas card John - it's a beautiful shot.
(By the way, you nearly got "you could eqsily use thqt first shot qs q Christ,qs cqrd John …………….then I remembered I am using an AZERTY keyboard !!! I wonder how long it would have taken Bletchley Park to break my code ………………………..)

Actually Barry, G and W don't seem to exist on this keyboard. What's more, the R is right next to the L,N and E.
Now I'm getting used to it, it looks like it will be a great keyboard after all……………………….. :cheers :cheers :cheers

Not q chqnce. Brest Zestern Rqilaqy. Which translates as GWR (Azertish to English).Any chance that GWR comes out as LNE on an AZERTY keyboard?

Definitely sounds like a faulty keyboard to me!
