Hi Ron.  Speaking about hips, a story that I may have related on YMRC, was the time when I found myself on the floor, after managing to get up and make a cuppa, I phoned my GP, of course that was in pre Covid-19 times. To cut a long story short, it transpired that I fractured my hip, of course there is nothing they could do about it.  Best wishes Kevin

Sol will be delighted to read that Kevin - take heed Sol - don't make a cup of tea !!!

Hi Petermac.  I made the cuppa after waking up/ regaining consciousness , because for years that was always the advice.correct or not. Now the idea is to wait until you see the medics.   Best wishes Kevin

Hi Petermac.  Thank you for your reply. Yes that is exactly correct. But, as long that it isn’t serious, I am in absolutely no rush to be an inpatient any time soon.  Best wishes Kevin

They need to flavour the cotton bud…. hint of lime maybe… or beer flavoured…. the back of my mouth tasted like a used bed sheet for a couple of hours
So glad the cortisone made a difference for you Sol.

Actually Marty, the cortisone made no difference after the local anesthetic wore off  & that is what my Dr said, it may or may not help.

Covid has hit South Australia again, Delta strain has arrived and we are now joining other States in lockdown - for us 7 days.

And we have another 7 days on top of the 5 we have done already. On the positive side, it is raining very hard, so you don't want to get out. Instead you have time to do modelling! Well, not heaps! Working from home takes up time.

Just to set the record straight, the far better known quote was Rumpole's from "Rumpole and the Old Old Story".

"There's no pleasure on earth that's worth sacrificing for the sake of an extra five years in the geriatric ward of the Sunset Old People's Home, Weston-Super-Mare"
Somehow those words have a much better ring to them, to my ears anyway. Still it is a motto which SWMBO seems to have accepted and adopted under COVID rules (minor win there).

While detouring into the marvelous world of Horace Rumpole in this little OT zone, we came across this lovely snippet recently

Nick: He collapsed while jogging.
Rumpole: Jogging, eh?  Well, I've always said that exercise is a short cut to the cemetery.

From "Rumpole and the age for retirement"

As Rumpole helps us with many light moments through a drab winter and mini-shutdown I can only echo Clive James' comment:

'I thank heaven for small mercies. The first of these is Rumpole'
Two brilliant Aussies.

Cheers Pete.

Good old cortisone. I've had one in a thumb joint… that bloody well hurt. One in each tennis elbow, neither of which was much fun either and a shoulder. Good job I'm not worried about needles.

Cheers Pete.

In another topic, Passed Driver Kevin posted this
when I was working because since retirement my schedule has gone out of  the window. When I first retired and my Brother was still alive I had a  schedule and I used to stick to it, I even took my brother halfway  around the World by plane and train . Best wishes Kevin

I too had a schedule planned with my wife when I retired 21 years ago, but that got stuffed up when she got cancer & 19 months later, she died.

I still had two young boys, well they were 21 , living home with me & so I thought I would develop a schedule for housework, garden  & the hobby but after a couple of weeks, things like housework & gardening came last on the things to do and only get done as necessary. The hobby which includes movies & the like take precedence. As one of my sister-in-laws said " if you don't dust the mantelpiece for 5 years, it won't get any worse ! "
I will have to learn not to run my finger along the mantelpiece…. but I do keep myself reasonably clean & tidy…..

Now to get breakfast & dressed ready for a day time operating session with 6 other older fellows like me on a huge USA outline layout.

Hi Ron.   I also have an index finger, although no fireplace. I retired in 1999 when I was 52 years of age. I became my Brother’s carer until he died at 72years. The reason I brought this subject :off topic up , is not having to bother to set the alarm clock, but, now with many visits to the hospital leaving me out of circulation. Best wishes Kevin

An update
Couldn't wait for public health to do something about the hip so had to rejoin private health -  the bank manager had a heart attack   but I , now as long as Covid not  not interfere with any operations , am due for a right hip replacement August 10  then when that is settled down , I will let the medicine men get stuck into my right knee which has also been visited by Arthritis  - this knee was seen too about 35 years ago with cartilage removed.

Age catches up with us all sooner or later. I've just spent the day cleaning up the carport and a shed. I feel like I've fallen down a flight of stairs now. I few whiskies should soften the pain.  :)

Cheers Pete.
