Venus, the moon, and Jupiter – am January 31, 2019
Hi Folks,Now, I'm not mad on astronomy, but I do find it interesting, and I do like to spot the planets when it is dark and clear enough to do so.
Venus and Jupiter have been putting on quite a show this January (In the Northern hemisphere!). They are the brightest objects in the sky, after the sun and the moon. This morning they were joined by the moon, and with it being a very clear and cold morning, they looked quite beautiful.
I managed to take the below photo on my wife's camera. It's not the best camera for this sort of thing, not being an SLR, but I'm quite pleased with the result! The view is from our bedroom window.
Left to right, Venus, the Moon, Jupiter.
Thank you for looking

Astronomy is a fascinating subject but, other than the obvious ones, I have no idea which is which in the heavens. I can usually recognise the sun and the moon but that's about it ………..
I know stars "twinkle" and planets don't but which is which is beyond me. Having said that, with virtually no ambient light, there are usually thousands in the sky here so it can be quite confusing …………………
What I do think, is that those "old fellas" who named all the constellations, must have had very wierd visual conception - maybe they were all budding Picasso's …………………………..

Cracking photos. No, I managed to miss this. Surprising as it might sound in the UK, but I think it was cloudy at the time…Luffley!

I was interested to find that by googling Venus moon and Jupiter with the filter set to the last 7-days, lots of people had taken the same photograph around the world – really good to see!
