R.I.P.

A sad piece of news. Jeff/Gwentrail was one of our small original group that made up the Barchester Forum - a predecessor of this group. I have just learned that he passed away at the end of last year, followed shortly by his wife Moira. A lovely person and devoted modeller. R.I.P.

Thanks Tim, had kept in some contact with him when he changed forums.
I guess it will happen to all of us over time - we can't stop it happening.

That's sad news indeed Tim - thanks for letting us know.

He was "ring master" at the Kernow/YMR exhibition we organised in Cornwall which seems like half a lifetime ago now ..............

RIP Jeff and Moira.

Hi Alan. I believe that Gwentrail was no longer a member.

Lovely bloke, very kind to me when I first started modelling on this forum. I met Moria and Jeff in person in Cornwall. Sad. They will be missed.

A sterling chap with a down-to-earth attitude who had a passion for his Welsh homeland and a famed loathing of oil-powered traction of a particular colour.

He lost a good modelling buddy some years ago which impacted upon his own mojo that I don’t think ever fully returned.

He was most recently a member of the Model Rail Group forum which I also joined briefly.

Those of us who met, modelled and worked alongside both Jeff and Moira will not forget their characters and craftsmanship. Along Marty we first met in Cornwall though also subsequently elsewhere.

The great engine shed in the sky is surely now echoing to the strident Welsh Valley intonation of “Blue Diesels My A**e”.

RIP Jeff. And Moira.

So sad to hear the news of both Jeff AND Moira's passing.Iwas only recently thinking about Jeff and Les and one or two other ex-YMR members and wondering if they were still around.Jeff was a real force of nature and along with Alan did a lot to get us all organised and together at Carn Brae all those years ago.We have lost far too many good people recently.RIP Jeff and Moira x
