I'm planning to visit the "Festival of British Railway Modelling"  at Doncaster racecourse next weekend on my way up north.

I've never been but have heard it can be very crowded - not good news given the current Covid situation but, having got a fantastic deal from SNCF from Bordeaux to London (just €73), it prompted me to make my first return trip to Blightly in over 2 years.

I thought a stop-over in Doncaster might be worthwhile ………………………

Has anyone on here been and if so, is it a decent show ?

I usually tend to avoid these big shows because often it's difficult to see much because of the crowds.  Having said that, it seems most of the smaller shows I go to have again been called off for a variety of reasons, either connected to Covid or the availability of suitable venues at affordable prices …………………..

We live in a sad world just now.  I'm currently trying to get my head around the necessary paperwork and testing requirements for the trip, both of which seem to change as quickly as I can read it !!!

Oh yes - nearly forgot - are any of our members going to the Doncaster show ?

No plans to be at Doncaster but if you have a spare afternoon during your visit and are able to get to Gainsborough, see if they have an open day - Gainsborough Model Railway is an O gauge depiction of the East Coast Main Line in an old primary school.  Its vast and a well worth a visit of you can.
