A "toy collector" friend has asked if anyone has any idea of when these items were produced.  Certainly sometime between the wars (only "O" and "1" gauge mentioned) but not exactly sure which year.  The poster design is well known and originals highly sought after ………………

I had a friend who was very into BL (unfortunately he passed away last year) and sent me the link to the Bassett Lowke Society website.  I have emailed their "products" expert with the pictures and a question.  I will let you know as soon as I get a reply

Many thanks Barry - that sounds extremely promising.

Apparently, the BL archives are incomplete so it makes these things difficult.

Second in the top row "Bournemouth" has LSWR which suggests pre 1923 (and post 1888 when the "direct line" opened)

Yes Mike - I think they're prints of a range of posters and the LSWR one is out of sync with the others.

All are, I think, from post 1923 but most likely pre 1939 because there are only 2 gauges mentioned.  It could be that BL only ever did these 2 gauges and they're 1950's marketed prints but my guess wold be, pre war (that's WW 2 you youngsters !  :mutley).  My feeling is, they're from the late 20's or early 30's.

Hopefully Barry's e-mail to BL will throw up something better than guess work ……………………… :hmm

Hi Peter

Looking at the content I would agree its unlikely to be post war. My guess would be mid thirties.
