Couldn't think of anywhere else to put this so here it is …………………..

I can't clear the flashing "You have a new message" thing on the front page ……………….

Any ideas anyone ?  It happened once before (some time ago) but I can't remember how I cleared it.  :hmm

All operating systems are slightly different, Peter.

I had to Google mine - e.g. clear cache Windows 10

There is a search box bottom left of my screen as well.

Memory is a perfidious thing at our age, Peter.

I also have a vague recollection that I had to delete all of my PM's to get rid of it.

You could also try Cntrl f5 to refresh the browser to see if that clears it  This will ignore the cache and force the browser to fetch the page direct from the website
Cheers

Unfortunately, that doesn't do the job Matt.

Why, oh why, do they have to mess with things that work - this desktop is Windows 7 HP (not 8 as previously stated) and, compared with Windows 10, it's so simple to use.  Clearing the cache with W 10 seems to be a right faff, added to which, the site I opened advising how to do it, was written in such poor English that I wondered if it was some kind of a scam - needless to say, I didn't proceed …………………

It could be of course, that I'm not yet fully used to using W10 so find it awkward compared to this.  I have an additional problem in that e-mails to "@hotmail" accounts are being kicked back marked undelivered on W10 but not on W7HP.        As both my kids have hotmail accounts, this is most annoying !!!!

I feel for you Peter. It's not funny ni clever Mr Gates. However, 'tis curious that both me and the bride use W10 and she sends me emails to my hotmail ac count from her gmail sans problems. We both have HP laptops, although the menus on her's is similar, but different to mine in numerous ways.

Mr Gates, you give us problems, but not always easy to implement solutions!

Bon courage mon ami. You can always fall back on red wine!

At 6'4'', Bill is a tall chap, then again, when horizontal he is rather long and people often used to trip over him! . . . and so a nickname was born :)

Just a thought Peter, you are logging out of YMRC before shutting down the PC.

No Ed - I never log out - not sure I could find my password to log back in !!

I've had that problem when I've taken my old laptop to UK - for some rwason, I'm not logged in on there and couldn't re-access the site.

Maybe I should look for it (the password) and log out to see if that clears it………………………..

On the other hand, it's saved on here (I think) so it shouldn't be a problem ………….:hmm

Could be the problem.

If you can't remember the old password, I would think Alan or another mod could change it for you.

Ok Peter couple of things to try, first use Cntrl f5 (hold down Cntrl while pressing f5) Do this first on the open messages page and then on the YMRC home page where you see the message flashing. In each case you should see the page re load. If you DONT see the page re load just try f5 on its own, You could also try using a different browser to see if it clears. . But you would need to log in on that broswer so probably would be a good idea to find your password lol. I'll PM you my email address as well so you can email if you log out and cant get back in  BUT make sure you jot down my email BEFORE you log out :mutley

Cheers

Thanks everyone - logging out seems to have done the trick although I did have to do it twice - once for your messasge Matt and again to clear a sticking one from John Dew ………………

You'll be pleased to hear I did manage to find my password and log back in - on the other hand, you may not be pleased ……………………………..

Anyway, for now, all seems to be working as it should.  Next job is to log on from the laptop and see if that's behaving ………. e-mails are still causing me some grief.  I will try some other hotmail accounts and see if they get kicked back.  Liz is on gmail Bill, and that's no problem.  Just seems to be W10 and hotmail.co.uk ……………………I think ………… :hmm
