Upgrading an old building
Just for fun I wondered what could be done with these venerable old buiuldings that graced many layouts in the 1960s. In their gaudy colours they were very much from the trainset era. However, they are of a nice size, can be picked up cheaply and nowadays the inevitable small pats can be bought on the second hand market.The building that I decided to work on was the little waiting room:

I think the building is based upon a GWR design, so I used appropriate colours of dark and light stone. I did not paint the main walls which were moulded in a brick red, but used powders to dull down the plastic look.
Here is the result of my efforts. I will not be using this on a layout, but not a bad result for anyone seeking cheap and easily obtainable structures for their layout:

I like what you've done with this venerable old model. It is amazing what can be done with a little bit of imagination. I used an old, battered Hornby Dublo signal box for just such a detailing project.
