Coal loading.

I am tryimg to find 1/76 scale (OO) JCB, low loader or similar to load loco tenders with coal as per real Weybourne.
I know Airfix/Dapol do a JCB type kit but I'm not impressed by them!
Has any member seen or have a link to another make either RtR or a kit please??

Many thanks
Ron

Hi Ron,

I have a few tracked excavators and a rubber duck from carorama if my memory serves me right. They do JCB's but two things …….one….they are quite modern versions and secondly they are 1 / 87 th scale. I would suggest a good starting point to search would be Langley models though. You may get something more suitable there in kit form.

I've been looking for a piling rig but can't get one anywhere near the right scale. They are all I / 50 scale.

I'll keep my eyes open.

Cheers

Hi Ron,

How about this one: http://www.mywebsitespace.co.uk/Vehicles_construction.html

It may be a tad modern, so there are theses as well: http://www.scalefarm.com/_man-jcb_jcb_farm_and_construction_machinery.htm

Hope they're of interest,

Bill :)

At 6'4'', Bill is a tall chap, then again, when horizontal he is rather long and people often used to trip over him! . . . and so a nickname was born :)

Thanks Bill, found a couple of contenders! One here
Oxford Diecast - Model Agricultural and Construction Vehicles - OO Gauge - 1:76

I am going to the Great Central model event this Saturday so I'll look there first and if there isn't anything I'll send off for one from somewhere!!

Thanks
Ron

Hi Ron,

It's the carorama version on your link that I've got. They are alright. I note there is a tracked excavator at 1/76th scale at the top of the page though if you want to keep the scale.

I must curb the enthusiasm and look carefully at the scale, as the 'pretty good' one is alas no good. I suspect the Dapol kit will need a lot of work to look right, so fingers crossed at the Great Central.

Cheers Ron,

Hi Ron,
Try Langley Models OO machinery kits, there should be Fordson low loader from the 1950's.

Hi Nigel, I'm modelling a preserved, preset day railway, at the real Weybourne they are using a bright yellow Volvo low-loader to fill the tenders so looking for something similar?
Going to a show tomorrow to check some out I hope!

Thanks
Ron

Try looking in Toys R Us or similar. They normally have some kids playpack which contain a JCB or similar. Probably be a darn sight cheaper than the Langley model. The scale might not be perfect but probably close enough.

I'm old, that's why I'm allowed to change my mind, when I can find it.
