The need to replace my little gas BBQ lava rocks gave me an idea for railway modelling……….namely, the pieces below remind me of the rocks on the beach in Dawlish which have been eaten away by the sea.  Another advantage other than being a lot cheaper than real modelling material is that they are very lightweight, almost pumice-like. Perhaps as the big outlets do cut price summer stuff to clar stocks it might be worth having a look?

Hope that inspires someone!

They do look good Doug - if a little on the large size for scree !!!

It never ceases to amaze me how many ordinary household articles can find a use in the modellers hands. :thumbs
