I took some photo's today and saved then in Photoshop (save for web). I resized them and saved as GIF. They range from 282KB to 385KB so they're the correct size and file type, but they won't upload. I got the message that they're the wrong file type, but they're not. I've uploaded the same file type recently and had no trouble. Anyone got any ideas?

Edited to say that I've resaved them as jpeg and I still get the wrong format message.

Did you use the file extension .jpeg or .jpg? I always rename .jpeg as .jpg for better general compatibility everywhere.Hi,

Is it possible you're using some character in the file name that is allowed in Windows but clashing in YMRC? If so, try renaming to something totally safe then as a basic. jpg file.
Otherwise try opening the file in another image management program, make a selection of almost the entire image, copy, then paste as a new image and then save this new file as a .jpg
If you don't have another program, try the same procedure in your software. I always do that copy / paste sequence with photos from my iPhone. It gets rid of all embedded data in the original file
If that doesn't work I don't know what else.

The file type needs to be lower case i.e. .gif not .GIF
Also, the actual file contents must match the file name. You can't simply rename a file from .jpg to .gif
However, the .gif format is not suitable for photos, it is intended for drawings and diagrams.
Photos saved as .gif will have their colours altered and the file size will be excessive.
For photos save them in .jpg format.

Image files such as .jpg and .gif must be uploaded to the gallery – use the buttons above the typing area.
Image files won't work as attachments using the button below the typing area. That is intended for other types of files such as PDF files (.pdf).
If you try to upload images as attachments you will get the "wrong file type" message.

Martin.

When I got the first 'wrong file type' message I then went back to photo's (apple app) and saved them as .jpeg files in Photoshop. What's baffling me is the fact that I've uploaded images as gif recently with no problem. It's a bit late now but I'll have another look tomorrow.
By the way, I always do this on the imac as I don't have Photoshop on the macbook.

If all the various above help fails, do a proper hard reboot of your device. Gremlins do creep in from time to time using soft reboots.

Re the fence, depends on your views.Hard reboot? Does that mean boot it over the fence? ;-)
You'll need to "google" the way to do the hard reboot on your specific device. Not always obvious or intuitive.
I have a new Microsoft Surface and the supplying store IT guy told me the Hard Reboot to fix my problem needed the power button to be held down for 20+ sec. That did nothing! Found out later it needed to be for 30+sec.
It's not a bad thing to do occasionally if your device starts behaving erratically.
