Whilst I do like Scalescenes buildings, I do seem to have had a few problems with them.  There's that constant concern about damp - I have some ballasting to do along adjacent to a Scalescenes retaining wall and, regardless of the fact that I sealed both the paper and finished wall, water staining could still be a problem.  Elsewhere, I tried some landscaping with ModRock on card formers.  The resulting sinkhole looks great …………… :mutley

Additionally, some of the earlier models were not sealed and the ink is fading quite dramatically.  I did buy a laser printer in the hopes that the problem would not reoccur on laser printed paper - time will tell although the print quality is not quite as good as ink jet prints.

Plus, and perhaps the biggest dislike, my fingers don't like cutting windows in 2mm grey board !!!

Looking around, I became quite interested foam core board.

I want to construct some removable buildings to sit on my hinged lift-up across the doorway and foam core board seems ideal for the job.

It's very light, even when faced with 1.2mm mount board and, made into a "box form", seems pretty strong.  Above all, it is very easy to cut with a sharp blade.

I could face it with mount board and use Scalescenes papers (suitable doctored to account for the 5mm thickness) but I'm just wondering if anyone has used it in conjunction with DAS clay …………. :hmm   Will the DAS stick directly to it or would I still need to face it with card ?  If it would stick, is ordinary PVA glue the one to use ?

for clarity - this is the board with 2 paper faces sandwiching a foam core, NOT foam insulation board ………..
