Hi,

I am getting ready to build a 4mm Roxey coach kit of an exSECR P+P  driving trailer, to aid me, I have the Comet coach building guide and Part Two of  Stephen Williams.

However the more guidance, the  increased likelihood of completing the kit - does anyone recall a well  illustrated article in any of the monthlies about tackling an etched  coach with a blow by blow account of the process?

My constant companion of rapidly advancing Parkinson's does make the  task something of a challenge BUT not to be deterred, I want to have a  go hence the plea for help.

    Thank you

 Tim

I wasn't aware these kits were still made Tim - is it from the "stock drawer" ?

Good luck with the search for experienced builders - I'm sure there must be the odd one on here but I haven't seen a kit like that for more years than I care to remember ………………………

Just nipped over there via Google and I see they specialise in stock for the south of the country - that's probably why I hadn't realised they're still in business.  Anything remotely south of Watford is entirely "foreign" to me ………..

Hopefully someone/anyone will recommend a suitable well illustrated magazine feature in one of monthly magazines…..

No joy in my index of Railway Modeller Jan 1972 to date (perhaps no surprise there).  MRJ might be worth a trawl but I do not have an index nor the magazines.  Someone on here might?

Alternatively, there is a book by George Dent on Amazon that might help???

Hi Tim,

I suspect you will need wheel sets and a detailing kit. If you've built a brass wagon kit or even a plastic one that's all you need. I've built a few Comet kits, best to ignore most of the instructions.

I suppose the major issue for you is to solder or not. I switched to CAA recently in preference to solder for brass and white metal kit building. I also bin the bogies and get RTR ones (good track does not need equalizing).
