As the author of that web page… thank you! I have only just happened upon this page. There is another thread somewhere showing the dwarf signals now as working lights! Comes under American signals in lineside under http://yourmodelrailway.net/view_topic.php?id=3089&forum_id=7%21
You are in Ballarat? Member of the club there? I'm at the moment President of Melton MRC … Have we met? PM me if you care to!

I have recently drawn the circuit I use for each lamp. The supply is AC and it is directed through a switch which selects the RED and GREEN side of the circuit or feeds AC into the light. The mixture of Red and Green gives off a fairly plausible yellow., otherwise the circuit has a second switch which selects Red or Green by using two reversed Diodes. OK it is halfwave AC but it does not seem to matter.
Hope any of you scared off by "difficult electrics" might have a go with this.

I usually use coloured spikes with heads so I can casually glance. Here in Australia where we don't have extremes of cold viz snow, usually there is a small survey type peg or sometimes a small section of painted rail painted in the web. Both last for years here!
There are probably items that are used for the same purpose all over the world. The small signal was one I could see over the other side of my layout… Any clearer or is that about the consistency of mud?
Actually Bob, my interest is piqued… what do you see might be potential uses for this? Please share it…
Regards
Trevor
