I'm looking for some of the older type locomotive lineside speed limit signs, the ones which were usually white painted metal numbers, mounted on a post. I'd guess these would be in kit form, made in etched brass or possibly plastic mouldings. I can't seem to find any reference to these in the index, but does anyone know of a supplier (in 00 gauge) of this type of railway sign, hopefully in the UK?

Hi Keith

Try googling   Eckon EA7

Think it might be what you want.

Keith, you could try buying some plastic numbers from Slater's Plastikard Ltd. and scratchbuilding your own signs.

Many thanks guys, both your suggestions are the kind of thing I'm after. As it happens, I live only a few miles from Slaters premises at Darley Dale, and they are also stocking the Eckon etched brass signs as well as their own plastic letters/numerals which I've previously used, so I now have a choice.
               Cheers,

Hi Keith.

I have used etched brass speed signs from Smiths in the past. I think they are still available.

I think the Eckon signs are very good, I think on the full size the numerals were either Yellow or White depending on era….I think.

I'm probably a bit late with this reply, but today I discovered that 'N Brass Locomotives' produces etched brass speed signs on posts in 4mm scale.  Item 4660.  Fourteen assorted signs for £3.50p

Here is the website if anyone is interested…

I bought some very nice shackles and chains to add to the Bachmann container wagons for more realism.
