Has anyone had experience with using Ratio signals and their subsequent signal remote control kit (item 250 in their catalogue). If so, does the working signal apear realistic in its operation and is it easy to put together.

I think they are very realistic signals but they are a little tricky to put together.  Not difficult, just fiddly!  They do need painting as well but the end results are very good.

Connor,
I have built  a few ratio signals over the years and find them OK.
Like Chris says they are a bit fiddly to build but make a good representation of the prototype.
If you are going to use the operating mechanisim as supplied (spring, cord and lever) then there should be no problem.
If however you want to operate them with a solenoid or point motor then I recomend you go with the GWR square post design as they are stonger and will take the power of solenoid operation.
You can see how I did mine at this page on my web site.

Hope this helps.
