I thought this would be a useful 'how to'.

Modelling Tips

I am not sure what these motors cost though.

I tried it at 13:43 today and it did not work.  I then went direct to the site and tried and it too did not work.  The site must be temporarily down.  I will keep an eye on it and make sure the link works when the site is restored.

Confirmed again at 09:20 UK time on 18 Nov that the link works.  It does.  The linked site must have been down for an update or maintenance - normal service is resumed  :)

Yep its working now and some excellent tips.

Having said that I went to put it into my favourites only to find it was there already. I really must look at the stuff I slap into my favourites sometimes - out of site, out of mind I suppose. :?

Very interesting links Novice and Bob.

I've seen the scenic modelling site before - some very, very impressive models (and prices to match !!).  The memory wire is new to me Bob - looks interesting and, from the site, doesn't seem too expensive although, as ever, that initial outlay is the thing that hits you.  They said a point/signal control for less that 2 Euros - when you look at their price list, that's correct but you have to buy enough to do a whole layout !!

I think acceptable is a bit of an understatement when you consider that most layouts don't have semaphor signals at all, never mind working ones. This is a huge gap in the market that has never been satisfactorily filled.
A really neat job Novice and another winner for the forum.
Now of course I'm going to ask you to do a bit more work. Could you please make a separate thread with just your project in it because if I direct people here, which I will, they come to the start of this thread which would then be the Seep motor project whereas I want them to be directed to yours, which I think is better? One other thing, could you inclue the words 'semaphor signal' in the title of the thread so people know exactly what they are getting before clicking on the link?

In a way I'm glad to hear that Bob because I was beginning to think it was me. Every time I've looked at a steam era layouts the paucity of signals has been alarming. Many modellers blow my mind with the realism they create in scenic details but then seem to ignore the most basic element of railway operation i.e.signals.

Any information on this is truly welcome and as you say it seems to be a neglected part of the market. :?
