I have several Ecko light signals (double aspect Red/Green), but I just have the place at the stations, and just switch them every so often. Does any one know how to use them properly, and what the cominations of lights represent. Also if you could diret me to any site that have the circuits for doing it automatically via reed switches on the track, and mgnets on the trains, although I will do it manually for the mean time.

Also can some one tell me what the difference is between home and distint signals.

Thanks

Take a look at this previous post. It will provide you with a starting point, at least. Signalling is a huge and complex subject, so it may take a while to get all the answers you need.

Thanks for that link Perry.

Its given me a place to start-I'm not going too complex, just a few to add realism.

Try these two and you should find everything you want to know about signals and what they mean.

Thanks for those useful links Robert, Im getting the jist of it now

I plan on building that circuit on the link that Perry kindly found for me, and was wondering if anyone knew what the maximum distance between the magnet on the train and the reed switch was-I was planning on using earth magnets, which are ment to be strong.

I think you can only really establish that by experimentation.
