First cut 4 squares of wood. The dimensions are in the diagram below. You also need a small 1cm x 2cm high block. I used a piece cut from an old guy fawkes firework rocket stick! Go hunting after November 5th! You also need a figure or emblem to go on the top. I used an old airfix 1/72nd scale WW1 soldier figure. This I painted dark antique bronze. Once dry I highlighted the figure, by dry drushing, with a light blue/green (Humbrol 88 + matt white).
The bits of wood are stuck together as described in the diagram, painted medium grey and, when dry, dry brushed with light grey.
Once dry, stick the figure on the top. I added a plastic card name plate painted brass and a couple of swords for decoration.
There you have it. A simple afternoon project.

Due to cutbacks, the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off.

I like that, Novice; very atmospheric. How about adding some tiny poppy wreaths around the base, just for a finishing touch?

Never one to turn down a challenge I decided to have a go. Here's how I did it. I cut a 3mm diameter slice of plastic from a piece of sprue from a kit to create a small disc. Fixed it to a cocktail stick. Put a dab of copydex glue on the plastic disc and dipped it in dark green flock. When dry I painted small blobs of matt scarlet to simulate poppies. The centre was painted in gold. Again when dry I added some very tiny black spots to simulate the poppy centres. The figure is from the old airfix trackside accessories kit. Mount wreath on memorial:

Sadly, I think there are, 66 names of the fallen from WW1, and a further 16 for WW2. A surprisingly large number for a small Island.
Further research will be required before construction . It does seem that it is not far from the "invented station" on the layout..
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.

There are also 33 Commonwealth war graves on the island, for those outsiders who died in service on the island.
