First scratch build attempt.

I know it's not that good but it's my first serious attempt at scratch building. It's W. E. Pakkems Warehouse and will survive it's wonky support leg which I've left at a jaunty angle.  :)  I'll straighten that later at the same time as fixing up the horrible looking loading bank. The roof looks better to the naked eye. The camera's a harsh critic.
Still got ground work to do and make sure there's no visible gap under the building. A bit of weedy grass and rubbish should help out there. These are the photo's I had so much trouble uploading.

Cheers Pete.

The roof does indeed look good Pete and the rest isn't too bad either.  :thumbs

A couple of comments, more on an engineering/architechtural point than anything -

The steel girder needs at least 1 more supporting leg in the middle - it's far too long a span to carry all that weight.

The wagon entry would look better either cut square with a lintel supporting the brickwork or, if you really want to keep the arch, it needs an arc of "soldier course" bricks to hlod it up.  That's an arc built from bricks on end to carry those above.  As you've modelled it, it would collapse.

Minor alterations but, IMHO, it would make te building look much better.

The design looks great - I like tge arched windows and quoins.  :thumbs

You're right Peter. I was looking at that girder myself. I might make the arch into a square opening with a lintel. Thanks for the comment.

Your first go at scratch building is considerably better than my own, Peter.  You have in hand the few things to put right, and it does help to have another eye look at a finished model or scene.
I must say it has been by modelling actual structures that I have learned some of those architectural features which make a difference, so I would certainly encourage a search on google for similar buildings to see what little features can be added to bring it all alive.  But a very fine start indeed.

For first serious attempt , well done  Peter!
I had thought that I could never do that but I have made a lot of scratch built buildings & enjoyed the activity & results.
One learns from the mistakes….

Thanks Sol. I've seen your buildings and thought they were good.

Cheers Pete.
