Some more modern buildings

As much as I am not a big fan of modern buildings I do believe that they are a valuable asset when it comes to getting younger people into the hobby. Let's face it, they are here and now and are immediately identified by the current generation. As a prototype to model they take little imagination and can be built rather quickly using basic materials and in this particular case it was vital that they be completed quickly. To set the scene, in April of this year I was elected as president of the Logan District Model Railway Club and one of my first thoughts was to update the old (14 years in fact) exhibition layout. It always seems to be a last minute thing but two weeks ago I managed to get a small team together and we have tackled what other members thought was impossible and that is to strip the layout of all scenery and create a new layout. With only a few days left before we need to pack the layout and prepare for our next show we will achieve the result we hoped for, more amazing though is that all this has been achieved in seven days of actual work by a team with little experience. I am incredibly proud of these guys and their enthusiasm and passion to complete the project. My involvement was to provide guidance in the techniques used and to create the buildings for the new city. When we get the layout completed I hope to get some better photos but until then…..
