Photo's restored

Hi there I've started to re post photo's in Robert's scratchbuilding posts (I'll try to do other members posts as well if I'm able).  I'll post links in here in batches of 5 as and when I complete them. In some of these posts you will see I have added         Defunct Link       by any broken links ?  If any members can find an alternative link please post it in this thread with the relevant thread/ post number or a link to the post, and I'll pop it in with 'Alternative link' next to it. This goes for any other broken links throughout the forum you would like to see repaired, I wont remove the original link as these are part of the history of YMR  but am happy where possible to put in alternatives

Cheers

Thanks for these Matt. Good to read the accompanying posts, as well! Lots of old names there - wonder what happened to some of them?

Thanks Matt, so good to find our photographs are not lost forever.   "Bob K" took a lot of my pictures somehow i struggle to post them on the forum Bob has kindly done that for me.  He may well have some of his own photos of his Dunton layout lost, maybe posted under his former handle as Novice.
Thanks again. :thumbs

So glad you guys are enjoying re visiting these threads as much as I am restoring them, some real gems hidden away in the forums past !   Sparky I sent Bob K a pm a few days ago about his lost photo's. I'm comfortable restoring Photos in general posts and projects like scratchbuilding etc and historic posts that otherwise just wouldn't get restored but prefer to have permission from an active member before touching Their Layout thread as I think this is a much more personal thing, recording their own journey in building a layout. Once Bob comes back and O K's it I'll happily add him to the list of future projects.
Just a note on the scratchbuilding subject, I'm coming to some pages that will have quite a few threads with deleted material, and Unfortunately I CANT restore something that no longer exists  so I intend skipping these and not listing them in the restored threads posts, but will put in any that are working fine or that I'm able to restore. These project threads are slower to restore than a layout thread as there are so many individual topics and I have to run three screens to separate them out, capture and then restore the Images . Great fun though and I'll post them up once I've got another batch processed

Cheers

Hi guys, well afraid not much time to devote to the photos this week as the run up to Christmas is a busy time workwise. I've managed to restore a couple of threads on page 13 as follows (none by Robert this time)

Tain Railway Station Building                 darrenscots

South Shore Line ….. Outhouse             Wayne Williams

thought I would also post a great link supplied by Rector that still works

   Model Bridge Design                rector

What I Have been working on as well, is the pages that Alan and Team managed to rescue from Bob's Original Barchester web site, that had been captured on the wayback machine. These pages were captured as text only, so I've been slowly working through and Identifying the photos that accompanied these pages and putting them back in place. Some Images are still missing and I will keep trying to locate and restore them as I work through Bobs many other posts.  so far I have managed to do the first half a dozen topics, down as far as the equipment and materials index and will continue through as I find and Capture more Images and Identify where they go. The link to the topic header is below

Bob's Barchester

More as I can

Cheers

Thank you Alan and all. Its actually a pleasure to be able to resurrect these threads. there is still Still plenty more I'm finding, and working on the wayback pages is quite interesting. as Marty pointed out on the Barchester thread Bob had a certain style and was also a great re cycler, not only in his model building but in his writing/ posting as well. I'm slowly working my way through his posts and matching old to re cycled, which allows me to re insert the photos in the correct spots. Things are obviously a bit slow at the moment due to Christmas commitments but I'm looking forward to making more progress in the new year if thats ok with Alan. Hope you all got what you wished for this Christmas and have a great new year

Cheers  and Merry Christmas

Just come across this thread and would like to say a big thanks to Matt for all the work he's put in.

Still being a part technophobe, can I save this whole thread to my mac in case it disappears off the forum >

Cheers Pete.

Hi Pete, not much point in saving this whole thread to your PC as it only really contains links to areas that have been restored. saving the thread probably wouldn't save the coding behind the links that actually take you to the original thread ( must admit I've never tried it…. ok you CAN right click a link, then click on saved linked content as. .  and this will save it as an html document which has the links in it) But I would suggest your best bet is simply to bookmark this page in your preferred browser, maybe creating a folder for YMR content at the same time so you can then just bookmark any pages you find interesting, useful or for later reading ?  This is how I do it and I think several other members as well. You can do a quick browse, identify anything you want to look at in more detail and just bookmark it for later reading, or to keep until you want to use the info you have found on a particular project. If you have a memory like a sieve like mine this saves you searching half the forum for that info you KNOW you saw last week  :mutley
Hopethis helps

Cheers

Thanks Matt,

I've bookmarked the thread as you said. All I'll have to remember is to have a look at it.

Now what was I going to do next.

Cheers Pete.

Hi guys well thats it for 2017  and the last of page 13 has been restored apart from two threads that were very photo heavy, I have recovered the photos from these two but at over a hundred photos on each I've skipped restoring them for now.   Some threads are non recoverable as the original photos were deleted by the OP's. The ones I have done are listed below and I'll move on through the next pages in the new year

Wishing you all health and happiness going forward into the new year   :cheers          âœ“          Barchester

Engine Shed Society   Found this tucked away in scratchbuilding so popping it in here for now so I don't lose it. It's probably somewhere else on the forum and I'm pretty sure it's one of the missing links in Bobs Barchester reference area so I'll repair that once I find it. It's well worth delving deeper into the sites Links and photo Archives, some great info hidden away

Cheers
