Seeing Col.Stephens' 00 scale Barn posting made me think some of you may not have seen my "N" scale one (in my Coombe Hiton layout postings) so just in case here's some photos:-

 

 

 

I made it in Balsa instead of my favourite card due to it's thick walls.   It took me over a week as it's the most fiddly building I've ever attempted and here's how I went about it:-







The following bit took some courage, i.e., taking out a chunk with my small pliars!

It now has to have all the usual bushes, weeds etc put around it - and in the adjoining fields.

Thank you all, much appreciated.   Terry, I must mention that John Ahern has been my inspiration since I first started railway modelling in 1952.   I bought his books then and my first attempt was to re-create the street scene on the front cover of "Miniature Building Construction" in 00 scale - talk about throwing myself in the deep end! - but it came out very well.   As a matter of interest the one I always wanted to make was his Quarry building and I managed to include this in my "N" scale layout and here's a picture of it:-

 

Shaun, the papers I use for the cladding and wall tiles are just downloads which I search around for on the web and these probably came from CG Textures.

Incidentally, the upper mine track is "Z" scale and I made the wagons from card and used tiny press studs for the wheels!   (And there are more photos of everything in my Coombe Hinton postings).
