Just a couple of photos of the Scalescenes bridge I knocked up at the weekend.

Have you tried that A4 label paper with the sticky back for glueing on paper ?.

Asking as I was thinking of trying it.

I just use either 90 or 100gsm standard copier paper.

I have used A4 copier labels in the past, its OK for sticking the sheets to card but the print only sheets are better on standard paper.

I use cheap glue sticks from Poundland (5 for a £) and to be honest its as quick as using the A4 Labels but considerably cheaper.

Looks really good. I thought that was real for a minute there. very convincing.

Thanks Toto, to be honest its the quality of the scalescenes kits that's makes them look good.



For anyone interested the details of the build are that I built it as the instructions apart from I modified the bridge deck height as this will be positioned under my already built track bed.



Its mounted to a piece of 3mm mdf the road surface is from the kit, the pavement is just grey card from the back of a A4 pad cut into scale 3 x 2 slabs with kerb stones from a lighter grey card, all laid individually.



The grass banks were built up by card contours then a light covering of ready mixed filler.



When dry, sieved real soil through a tea strainer is applied followed by static grass from my fly swatter applicator, a few pieces of lichen covered in scatter for the bushes and a few teases of hanging basket liner for some long tufts.



I may add a lamp post and a bit more detail before installing on the layout.



I like to do most of my structures as a small module that I can then blend in once installed.

Excellent work, very convincing look to it.

When building Scalescenes (something I haven't done for some time alas), I use photocopy paper for laser, 90 g/cm2, it's fairly hefty.  I also use Pritt sticks for sticking the paper to the card and a roller to make sure everything is stuck down.

I now only use sticky A4 labels, paper or vinyl, stick to card then cut with a plotter cutter. No messy adhesive all over the fingers or dripped onto the bench/carpet/trousers etc

I also use a rubber roller.  Where does this word 'brayer' come from? My missus keeps using it as she uses one for her crafting. I told her "It's a ****** roller.  At least it was for the thirty odd years that I used one for fingerprinting thieves, vagabonds and other ne'er do-wells, as a member of the local constabulary!

I had to look twice as you've put it in front of the shed and I thought it was all part of the same scene for a minute.

I do envy you people who can 'knock up' a kit in a week end, takes me three days to do a short bit of wall :oops:

I use a rubber roller about 1" diameter by 5" width, found it at a car boot sale, much better than my larger diameter but smaller width wallpaper seam roller.

Thanks for all your comments, winter means less work on the actual layout in the shed so more buildings appear.

Just started on a 8 arch viaduct now using the scalescenes low relief arches as a starting point, will post up a new thread once I have something worth showing.

Andy, I have built a large viaduct  http://yourmodelrailway.net/view_topic.php?id=8469&forum_id=101 but not as you plan in using the Arches but the actual kit.

I enjoyed going through that, from what I can see the actual viaduct kit is the same as the low releif arches but with arches added, I need my viaduct to be 105mm wide so I would have to bash the full kit anyway, but at least I can now see how the full kit goes together and that the arches are done the same way as the bridge kit.

Hopefully it will come out as good as yours.
