Not for the faint-hearted.
I thought that I might make another small model so decided on the Boilerhouse ( TO25). Although this looks like a simple building with chimney attached, it proved to be a challenge. I encountered a problem with the 'corner caps', the pieces which cover the four building corners. You are supposed to scribe and bend each corner cap, but I always find that when using medium, or 1mm card, as advised in the instructions, it is impossible to produce sharp corners by scribing and bending. It may be because I am using 1mm Greyboard and possibly a better quality card may give better results. In the end I made each corner cap in two pieces which resulted in nice sharp corners. The six-sided chimney base looked daunting but proved fairly easy to construct. The eight-sided chimney proved a challenge, and once again, better quality card may be the answer to a better finish. I wasn't looking forward to applying the brick surface to the chimney, but following John Wiffen's instructions to apply adhesive to two sides at a time, it turned out to be fairly straightforward.
Here's the result…

Tell me more Terry …………….:roll:……………………………………….. I have just found on Ebay, a source of greyboard which has a nice smooth surface on both sides. This might give sharper edges when it is scribed and folded.

I bought mine in bulk a couple of years ago from Seabrights in Brighton (I think) but they only supply account holders now ……
