US Sellers Only please

I'm looking to pick up a 4-8-4 on the cheap for my US steam fleet. I don't care if it's rusty, filthy, cracked, etc. Doesn't have to be running, doesn't even have to have a tender. I'll even accept an old Bachmann or Lionel 4-8-4 that's succumbed to split axles. As long as it at least has all eight drivers, I can work with it.
But I'm going to insist on US sellers only because of the blasted shipping costs, unless it ends up not being tooo bad.

Hi Brendan,

How cheap is cheap? Any particular 4-8-4?

Let's say, within twenty dollars. And no, not any particular 4-8-4. To be frank I'd even take just the wheels and valve gear.

Hi Brendan,

Nothing on offer at the local (big) train show for less than $40 (beat-up Bachmann). Eebygum often has Bachmann 4-8-4's for around $20-$30. One there today at $25.

I was tempted by a GN 4-8-4 S-2 Northern with Vanderbilt tender in brass, only $350 in working order and with a newish can motor. Wheels treads needed re-plating, and the gearbox was a coffee grinder, so I passed. Bin there dun that.

Well, I've kinda shifted my priorities a bit anyway. Mind deleting this thread? It'd be simpler to start a new one than edit this one.
