Dapol B15 box van separate roof

Dapol B15 box van roof.
Has anyone got any of these?I believe the newer box van and body is a one piece moulding but I have some earlier vans without roofs which I am trying to get the separate roof for.
Damaged or incomplete models would be OK as long as the roof was good.

Good idea but it's a mighty big bend to make in this wagon roof from one piece. The vertical cross section looks somewhat like an elongated

C

(but not curling around quite so far at each end of course). The two edges come to being near vertical from the view I could get here, (see one of the series of images):

Dapol Box Van

 Good luck

Barchester is in the usergroup ‘Super-moderators’
Is there Possibly a coach roof with a simular profile that could be cut down ?  :hmm
OR chat up somebody with a 3D printer and necessary drawing skills ?

Just random thoughts !

Thanks guys for all your ideas.I have tried to form one by shaping a block to fit inside the van with its upper surface to be where the inside of the roof would be with the intention of drape forming a plastic sheet over it in the oven.
Not very successful for various reasons so abandoned that idea.
Also tried plastic and thin card but not happy with them.
I have just obtained yesterday in the mail 3-wagons, one of which is a box van with the removable roof and the next attempt will be to make a mould from this and cast some either in plaster or resin.
On examination the roof is not of constant section in the area above the doors and this is where the difficulty lies with making one from sheet material.
Will let you know how and if it’s successful 🤞
Incidentally some years ago I saw a demonstration at an exhibition of small parts being duplicated by using silicone caulking material out of a tube to make the mould and then plaster of Paris or similar home brew material to make cart wheels!

Just a thought Barry - have you tried asking Dapol if they have one ?

Some companies are excellent at supplying various spare parts.

Hi Peter,I contacted Dapol about a week ago and they don’t have any.
The problem is that my vans are quite old when the roof was separate.
I bought a Dapol spare body with roof a while back, problem over I thought but no it’s since been retooled into a one piece moulding with integral roof and is slightly different in length.
I will have to revise moulding technique and attempt a silicone mould.
Was going to attach photos but not successful.

Incidentally as an aside, I mentioned in my first post that I belonged to a R/ C model aircraft club.
Chatting down at the field one day I was told that Richard had a large continental layout and had also a couple of boats he had built.
After asking what they were he said “two warships of the Russian Navy, the American and British don’t have enough detail on them”.
Have a look they are unbelievable!

Udaloy II and Sovremenny Admiral Chabanenko
Also his plane builds are on there.

My roofs shouldn’t be any problem at all 🤯
Cheers
