Caterpillar tractor

It seems that this beast is a one-off. The person who ordered it wanted  one with a BIG diesel engine, but apparently Caterpillar didn't do  exactly what he wanted. He therefore ordered the chassis and running  gear, etc., then 'shoe-horned' his own diesel power plant into it.

It looks and sounds very impressive but is not very practical. The owner  has to cart a compressor around with him everywhere he takes it because  it's needed to start the thing up!

To "hull" with the practicalities.  That's a magnificent show machine, and I'd love to see it in action!  Thanks, Perry:thumbs

It looks a bit front heavy ! A bird sitting on the front may tip it up !!!

A real beast indeed.

Lovely looking thing Perry. :thumbs

To see some real "agricultural" beasties, you need to visit one of the tractor pulling competitions.  I remember seeing one "tractor" in such an event powered by 2 Rolls Royce Merlin engines in line !!!

To see the exhaust gases popping from each of the four stacks in turn was strangely mesmerising.
