If you like the NSWGR 38's, You'll love this...

Just been trawling through some Youtube clips when I spotted this video. If you like the 38 Class of the NSWGR, you'll love this video of 3801 &3830 hauling an excursion special over the Illawarra Escarpment, through Robertson and on to Mossvale, then back to Sydney. I know I enjoyed it. Listen for the wheel slip !

Superb vid Gary - thanks for posting. :thumbs

Is 3830 an oil burner ?  She seems to kick out some very black smoke compared with 3801……………..:roll:

Even though I am a Great Western man, I have always loved 3801 and she is my favorite loco ever built. When I was five or six years old I got to go into the cab of 3830 but have treasured the experience ever since.

3830 is returning to the rails after an overhall. The Rail Transport Museum is putting 3830 on duty at the head of the Southern Highlander on 5th May 2013. Tickets available now via the RTM website ; http://www.heritageexpress.com.au/pages/tours-events/2013-05-001-TEOS.htm

I might have to put a few $$ away for this trip. Afterall, only a few days after the trip it's the wifes birthday… Might make a nice day out, lunch etc.

Cheers, Gary.

Of course, you'd have to make it "Lounge Class" otherwise she'd think you were a cheap-skate………….:roll:

p.s. Don't forget to take your camera.;-)

Well just remind her how much she's saved over the years with you and blow it all on a "ticket to ride".

I dream of riding the Ghan one day but by the time you add the fare from France into the equasion, it will probably remain a dream…………:cry:
