I have just acquired the 1950-51 first edition of what becaim Janes Railway book. Only cost £4, it does not seem to be rare.

Fascinating detail on world railways at the time. US is well covered. UK and Europe as well and a fair bit of the rest of the world.

What really caught my eye those was this:

One of 4 built in the 1940s. Three made it to Iraq, fourth is on sea bed. Built in UK by Hawthorn Stevensons and similarity to A4 is probably deliberate.

Picture is via Wikipedia site on Iraq railways and was taken By the British Army soon after delivery. I believe then ran for some time.

Wonder if any of them are still left, rusting in the desert?
