Coming closely behind, in my preferences, come making buildings (including, but not solely scratchbuilds) and layout planning. Having said that, there's really not much I don't enjoy doing, although some things (like ballasting) I'd rather do in small doses.

I actually enjoy ballasting. I think of it as scenery, really. I HATE electrical work. And it hates me.
Photographing the layout rates highly for me too. Even taking photos of locos and rollingstock when there is no scenery.

Scenery would be my second choice with electrics the thing I hate!

I've voted for scenic work because that's my main reason for building a layout as opposed to playing with a train set.

I'm identical to Jeff - well, us GWRers have got to stick together! - however I'm apprehensive about ballasting and particularly electrics as I haven't tried either yet.:oops:

I put scenic work - to me, that's when a layout comes to life. Really looking forward to the stage when I can actually practice on some.
