As suggested by Alan, here's a poll on what you like best in Railway Modelling.

By all means add a comment after you vote, results shoud be interesting.

:oops::oops: didn't put in the number of days it should run. Put it at 28 for the moment, that can always be changed later.

Well, I put my vote in - as can be expected, wiring & electrics - but all aspects are parts that I like. Tracklaying would be my second vote.

I voted for Scenic Work, but as I learn more about general building that is also high on my interest list.

Can't find the poll so far; it will appear in due course, I guess.  My choice Loksound - although my second pref., scenery has taken over a bit of late.

I voted for scenery altrhough there are a few other things I like.  A poll on biggest hate would have been good too.  Ballasting; I hate it.

I've voted for scenic work because that's my main reason for building a layout as opposed to playing with a train set.

Coming closely behind, in my preferences, come making buildings (including, but not solely scratchbuilds) and layout planning. Having said that, there's really not much I don't enjoy doing, although some things (like ballasting) I'd rather do in small doses.

I've added prototype research and ballasting to the list, but these can be changed if anyone wants something else to vote for.

I voted for scenery, but sitting and watching comes a close second for me.
I actually enjoy ballasting. I think of it as scenery, really. I HATE electrical work. And it hates me.
Photographing the layout rates highly for me too. Even taking photos of locos and rollingstock when there is no scenery.

I love operations and recreating what I remember from years ago.

Scenery would be my second choice with electrics the thing I hate!

I'm identical to Jeff - well, us GWRers have got to stick together! - however I'm apprehensive about ballasting and particularly electrics as I haven't tried either yet.:oops:

There's a big choice there - most of which, I actually like - or will do !!!

I put scenic work - to me, that's when a layout comes to life.  Really looking forward to the stage when I can actually practice on some.

I voted for prototype research. But I would like running trains on a big layout if there was one…..

I hate to be predictable, but no surprises here; I voted for Scratchbuilding. Like most other folk I enjoy doing most things connected with railway modelling, but I must admit I get a real buzz from a good scratchbuilding session. :thumbs
