Now this poll is, some might say, a justification for what I have put you all through but for me it's a question of testing the water to see if all the effort, time and trouble of moving here has been worthwhile or would we have been better off staying as we were, on a host whose backup problem had been solved. There the forum was simple, you posted what you had to say and that was it, you didn't have to make choices because there weren't any. Here there are multiple choices and there is no doubt that the software is going to grow to who knows what. This is a simple choice which doesn't really require comment, unless you choose to do so. The fact is we are here of course but never the less it is still possible to revert to the way we were. As ever I have only your interests at heart.

The reason for the choices is you haven't finished setting everything up. When it's finished the default will suit nearly everybody. Also, allowing different themes is very confusing. In the Sea theme the side boxes are much wider than in the Ultra theme. It wastes the space.

Also people should learn to use their browser. In Firefox you can set a zoom size for the text. Without affecting the images. Firefox remembers it for the next time you visit. If the default is too small, set a higher zoom to whatever you want. That's better than wanting the admin to change text sizes. Everybody can set their own size.

Getting used to it and I think it is a good move Bob.  The side bars look the business and are already showing up parts of the forum that may have stayed hidden to newer members.  I think it was worth it, especially as we ended up with a BR Blue signature on your posts!

I echo Chris T's sentiments.  Now that I feel at home and am clicking in the right places, I think that this new forum is great!

Yes, I am getting use to the variations.

It is only the oldies like Phill who are having problems adjusting to the new world

I second what Owen said.

Like every change, there's stuff to get used to and to find your way around but the tiny problems I've hit are far outweighed by the benefits I've found - and I'm a total computer dinosaur !!

I'd say - for me at least, a great move !!;-);-)

Donegal,
Sorry that my basic computer skills are such a frustration to you, but how many times do I have to say that I'm a railway modeller and not a computer operator? A lot of what you write (technical details) are in an alien language to me, but bear with me I'm learning slowly.

I use Sea because I prefer it and it's easier for me to read with my serious eye problem (but as a simple sort of bloke I don't find more than one theme in any way confusing)

I use Internet Explorer because that's what the dammned machine came with and I can think of nothing I'd like to do less than become an expert on using my browser.

I want to learn to be a better railway modeller, not a better computer operator, so I buy the machine, plug it in and let the bloody thing take care of itself. If that doesn't ideally suit a particular site that I visit, I compromise and accept my limitations (not wanting to spend hours fine tuning my system)

For those to whom all this electronic jargon is meat and drink I say good luck to you, I hope you get as much enjoyment out of your computer as I do out of building a model railway.

But I do like WowUltra!:lol::lol::lol:

Now i totally agree with him on this, in saying that i love this new room. As Ron says the oldies like him may find it hard to navigate at first but now the basics have been found etc we are all happy, we find anything else we can do on here then thats a bonus but the basic's do for me for now thanks. Oh just found how to alter the font size :D.

I think this is a great site, but I preferred the old one, there is too much going on here for me.  I will probably get used to it - bit like when you buy a new pair of slippers, not quite the same as the old ones until they bed in!
