Mine's 46" Tim.
It's a good height for viewing, I can duck under to get to the centre well without too much effort and it'sa  very comfortable height to work on.

Thanks, Jeff.  I'm going for a 42" height (for reasons explained elsewhere.)  It is plenty tall for what I need, and must be (as you pointed out) reasonably comfortable to get underneath with ease….

… To adjust either of the two wires

Mine's a very disappointing 30 ins.  It's ok if I sit on my low chair
I could raise it, and would like to one day.  I'd like it to be about 4ft.

Mines low and yep i rushed to build the base and forgot about the height, seemed ok at the time but if i get my milking stool out i can sit on that and its ok. I would like it to be higher it but its to much work so i gues i will live with it till i rebuild one.

Sorry Tim, I meant to reply earlier after I had measurd it again but forgot

It's 100cm (almost 40 inches). I'm 5ft 11ins and should have made the baseboard higher, say 48 inches - too late now though.

Tim, just measured mine (for the first time) and it is 102.5cm.  The reason I didn't know off hand was because I had just built it at elbow height, this was something I had picked up on browsing several American sites.  There is no correct height for a layout, but it should at least come to the elbow of the operator (in a stood up, standing kinda posture :D ).  I put mine to the "at least" mark as any higher and Della would have needed a leg up to see it

So get the better half to measure how far from the floor your elbow is, and round it up - easy

I'd never heard of the 'elbow rule' before but it makes a great deal of sense.  My new benchwork is about the right height.  And not just for viewing.  The other day I was able to sit under the boards, sip a mug of tea and actually look up to tweak the DCC wiring buses.  Very comfortable :!:

Tim i imagine mine must be the highest as because of the garden section it had to be built at this height 51 inches i quite like it as you are nearer to the layout with your eyes and not looking down on it .

Sorry for the delay in posting on this one, kept forgetting to measure
Lowest track level is 105cm and rises to about 115cm (haven't completed the trackwork there yet. Haven't started it actually :!: )
So that is about 3'3" to 3'7"
I would have liked it higher and have adjustable legs to allow me to raise it another inch or so if required but T is vertically challenged and the layout height was designed in consultation    :D  :D
It has worked out well in the end, standing up I can reach most parts of the board and get a birds eye view. Sitting down I get a track side view.
T gets a trackside view standing  :!:  :!:  :!:
