It was just a brief visit, Trevor, on the way to somewhere else.
The Club Members were welcoming and there was a pleasant atmosphere.
(Brut, I think).
There was one of those exhibition type mysteries for which the organisers would have a valid and reasonable explanation:
The 'Club' layout was sited back to front.
Instead of the impressive vista of good modelling, the visitor was initially shown the vast unpainted surface of the back of the backscene.
To accommodate the operators, a long row of chairs had been taped together as a barrier.
This allowed visitors about a metre to walk past the exhibit.
As two people who attended were fat, this caused major traffic difficulties.
Maybe something to do with Fire Exits or maybe someone had the floor plan upside down when setting up.
However, it was all interesting although I couldn't find half the advertised layouts. I probably missed out a couple of rooms.
Worth the £3 admission just for the fascinating and very expensive O gauge exhibits.

I tried to reply this morning DD but couldn't !!!

That first layout is excellent. :thumbs

As for the Hornby 3 rail stuff - whilst I know there are many followers, unfortunately, it does absolutely nothing for me being incredibly "toy-like".  It does have a place but that's probably in a toy museum, not at a model railway exhibition. They are "toy train sets" and not model railways.

High end manufacturers like Bassett-Lowke from the same era are a different matter ………….
