Hi

I watched the video. Looks superb. I thought I saw a flash (twice) as the emu went under the bridge. Added to the realism I thought. Wondered if it was a working third rail?

It is certainly possible to have a third rail powered and im sure some people have done that.

I think in this case the builder has fitted a few reed switches under the bridge

Which are probably activated by the EMU loco third rail pick up this gives a qiuck flash of power to a blue LED under the bridges.

As you say it gives an extra bit of realism

Express models do a range of lighting units which give differant effects an arc welder is one which would give a similar effect as the light on the layout

Great layout. I love the use of the old Hornby Dublo signal box, which has been significantly detailed and improved.

Difficult to watch on the mobile link but the arcing is very effective.  If they could just get the distinctive "buzz" at the same time it would be perfect!

I am not sure but i think it may be a pop up rabbit that is sold at express models

its a novelty model railway item to create a bit more interest its triggered to pop up out of the ground by a reed switch or something mind you this rabbit if it is one is popping very high

Perhaps the rabbit has just plonked is ass on the third rail - that would make him jump
