Has anybody tried cutting thin brass sheet with a plotter cutter? I'm thinking similar thickness to that used in etched N gauge kits, I've managed to cut some of that with a craft knife.

Hi Mike,
I would be very surprised if it would cut metal no matter how thin. Mine (Silhouette Cameo II) won't cut right through styrene thicker than 10 thou (0.25mm)

My Zing cuts embosed plasticard easily and card over 1mm, I've also cut mounting board, the spec also claims 2mm Balsa though I've not used ot for that. I'm now thinking posibly use the embossing tool to get an accurate outline on the brass and then use a craft knife to cut it. Another suggested solution is to print the outline to self adhesive label, stick that on the brass and cut round it, problem there is though that 83 year old hand/eye coordination is not as good as it was.

Hi Mike,
I am sure that mine will cut thicker card but I haven't tried it. I haven't heard of a Zing cutter before I will have to read up on them - not that I need another of course.

When I bought my Zing about 4 years ago it was £300, I see it's now been upgraded and price has gone up too, now £503.

There was quite a long thread on plotter cutters back in 2012/3, mostly re the Zing but some others also mentioned.
