Also some of the scenery made, all the houses, shops etc I made whilst waiting to get in the shed. Here are two pics to show what I have done so far. Oh yes the shed is 11ftx9ft. Grandad

Hi Matt, yes insulation, and curtains good idea, thank heaven security not to much of a concern as position of shed very good well out of way of people. Build progressing not too bad two steps forward one step back. Learning all the time. Good fun though. Not railway, i know but ships are my main hobby, This is H M S Belfast ,1/96 scale 6ft 4in long, scratch built from original builders plans bought from national maritime museum. Thanks for your interest, hope I haven’t broken any rules by showing this.

As a first layout, all is looking good thus far.
A nice sized shed too.
We on this forum like to offer advice as opposed to criticism. We all learn from one another.
From experience, I can see that there may well be issues in the near future with damp and temperature which will effect all of the wood not only in the lay out but also the shed.
I echo Alan's concern about insulation. Having built the base units, it will be very disheartening to find that come the cooler and damp conditions, you find that the track and scenery do not behave the way you anticipated.
Before you progress too much further, I really do urge you to consider installing some insulation into the walls and roof of your lay out room. Spring time in your neck of the woods may be fine at the moment but I can assure you that any change in humidity or temperature will really affect the running of your lay out in the future.
Best try to rectify problems before they start.
Damp and electrics do not mix.
